Residents from across the southern suburbs of Houston will be publicly showing our support for our Muslim neighbors and for refugees and immigrants from predominately Muslim countries. Recent efforts to restrict immigration, turn away refugees, and incidents of anti-Muslim violence and harassment make this an important time for us all to come together and let our voices of respect and compassion be heard.
On Friday February 17 at 1:00pm, the Bay Area Unitarian Universalist Church in Clear Lake will be welcoming all of our neighbors from every religious tradition, culture and background to gather for a HUGE rally to demonstrate our support for the members of the Clear Lake Islamic Center, their families, and their friends as they arrive for their weekly Friday worship. We’ll gather along the private road (Beacon Street) which leads from El Camino Real to the Islamic Center with signs of support for Muslims and for immigrants and refugees in Houston, across America and around the world.
We invite you to join us in this local, passionate and positive event! This rally will be non-partisan and is aimed at expressing of our shared values of inclusion, compassion and respect for diversity in these challenging and difficult times. It is not a protest but a celebration of the gifts of unity and community. We’ll be rallying and then enjoying snacks and refreshments together with our Muslim friends.
The Rally will take place on Friday February 17 starting at 1:00 at 17503 El Camino Real in Clear Lake (near the big blue water tower off of El Camino Real, just south of Bay Area Boulevard and just north of NASA Road 1). For more information or directions, please visit www.bauuc.org or call
Come, bring your friends, bring your positive signs of support and love for our neighbors, and help us make a joyful noise as we stand on the side of love together!
